We bought our home last year and have come to learn that most of the electrical outlets are loose - e.g. if you go to pull a plug out, the top or bottom of the face plate may end up coming off the wall. Under the plate I've come to learn that the problem is the top and bottom hole of the outlet box. As an example, the top or bottom hole pictured here (our boxes are grey and plastic). The problem is the plastic hole is usually completely busted open, like a screw that was too large was used and broke it open. I've used G-clips with moderate success, but even these eventually pop out after enough use. Is there a permanent fix? Replacing the plastic box seems like the obvious answer, but is that as painful as it sounds (am new homeowner/novice DIY-er).
