First time poster here. My project is a revamp of our home office / spare bedroom. As part of the project, I'm trying to mount a pair of computer monitors to the wall. These mounts are pretty typical, utilizing two fairly large fasteners per screen, offset slightly.
The wall is my primary problem. We rent, and even the landlord that works as a contractor doesn't have much advice to offer. This wall is shared with our bathroom, and on the side of all of the bathroom fixtures. My gut feeling is that the plumbing is in this wall for both our unit and the upstairs apartment in our duplex.
I've tried the knock method and different stufinders, yet the pair of holes I've drilled have both come up hollow. And there doesn't seem to be a logical stud spacing that I can identify with the finder. I had the same problem on another wall in the same room last year. How do I ensure that I avoid drilling through something important without putting a large hole in the wall?
