Help Request - Black Mastic Removal

I started ripping out carpet from my basement when I noticed black adhesive holding down the tack strips at the edge of the carpet and causing an old layer of sublayment to stick to the concrete. I immediately stopped as I know that means it could be asbestos.

I started doing research, but there is a surprising lack of information on this out there. The best I can gather is that normal mastic is removed by sand blasting, asbestos mastic can only be removed with chemicals, and another option is to put a layer of something over it. My research is suggesting the layer method might not be great for my plans (laying down Lifeproof) and the chemical option will cause damage to any future things I put on the floor. Does anyone know more on my options?
