Trying to DIY track lightning... wire colors have me baffled..

So I'm swapping out my old light fixture for some track lighting. I pull down the old fixture and I realize there are only green and white wires coming down from the ceiling... which are connected to black and white wires respectively on the light fixture.

I know green is a ground wire and shouldnt be connected to black (hot) wire. But it... was? New track lighting has one green, one yellow, and one white which is confusing me even more. Google is not giving me any real answers.

Can anyone help me out??
