[DIY HELP] Looking to recolor an IKEA desk

I purchased this table top for a desk from IKEA a few months ago. I thought it was black until I actually put everything together. It's a very dark brown.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to recolor it?

Is it as simple as painting over it, or am I just overthinking this?
