Bought four new kitchen appliances at Home Depot. The contracted installers refused to install the over range microwave over tile backsplash. Home Depot never told us this would be a problem but confirmed they know they won’t do it when I called HD.
So now I’m stuck figuring out how to install this thing. There’s a horizontal bracket for the wall and then it screws in from the top through the cabinet.
Initially I was going to take out three rows of tile and attach to drywall but the tile is REALLY on there. First row popped off easily. Second row is destroying my drywall. I already have a gaping hole. I’m now inclined to try to just drill through the tile to mount the bracket. Bracket will go on third row that I haven’t started destroying yet.
Has anyone done this before? What advice do you have for drilling through the tile? Do I need a special bit? Any other advice for mounting the microwave for someone who has never done this?
