I have lived in my 20 year old house for 3 years and since I can remember, there has always been a condensation issue in a line about 3 inches wide over the shower. I always thought there was a cold water pipe on the other side of the drywall. It was always colder to the touch than other parts of the ceiling. Makes sense. I went into the attic and dug under the insulation and there was no pipe, but instead I figured out that this line was right where 2 pieces of drywall meet. It looks like the drywall compound does not do a good job of changing temperature like the drywall does. The rest of the ceiling and walls don’t visibly condensate. I am about to repaint my bathrooms and I am wondering if I should paint everything with anti condensation paint or just that one spot or some other solution.
Is this a common issue with drywall joint compound? Does anyone have any experience with this or with fixing condensation issues?
Thanks!
