OK...so we have 65" TV that we want to mount over our fireplace. Yes, I know the cons. Please don't lecture me about the heat and the viewing angle. Anyway, our house is old, built in 1947. The fireplace where we want to hang the TV has metal and plaster and paint over the brick. Looking down from the attic, its brick, metal, then about an inch of plaster. There are no gaps or anything. Our worry is drilling into the painted wall and not being able to see the brick. If we drill into the brick will it crack and crumble and bring down our chimney? (I may be being dramatic, but you get the idea) Should we just drill a bunch of test holes to find mortar? That doesn't sound ideal either. I have read about 20 different posts dealing with mounting a TV above a fireplace, but none have seemed to answer my questions. Please help! Thanks!
