Hi!
Been updating several fixtures.
One thing I'm running into is the whole question of finish.
For example, I recently bought a statuette described as bronze but was in reality bronze-painted plaster. The seller did not realize the difference. I got a refund (I'd paid a solid bronze price)... I just use it as an example.
a) if something is stainless steel, is that a description of the color, or it's actually solid stainless? if solid, that's a plus-- it'll never have a finish that flakes off. often stainless seems to be the most expensive, so I'm thinking it's actually a solid material.
b) if sink fixture is polished brass, is it actually solid brass or just brass plated? same question as above
c) I noticed that for many items, chrome is the cheapest option (as compared to nickel or polished brass) Is there a quality reason for that, or, it's just a matter of economies of scale-- more chrome is ordered in more quantities so the chrome version is cheapest. or does the chrome flake more than the nickel?
d) are there any clear plastic knobs that don't turn cruddy and yellow? I suspect the answer is no, and to just stay... clear of them. sorry, couldn't resist the pun.
