Installing Light Fixture onto Vinyl Siding Block

Hey - we recently got our house resided in vinyl. It used to be wood.

Anyway - I'm totally useless when it comes to any sort of handywork. So they took all the lights down and they didn't put them up because I guess the guy's insurance doesn't cover him putting stuff back up (I suppose if something happened and it was wired wrong and started a fire? I don't know).

So we have the vinyl siding - then where the old light used to be, there's a thick, sturdy square vinyl siding block sticking out a little bit, and it has a hole in the middle with the 3 wires coming out of it - and then just a click on outside part that I think is just decoration.

So we bought new lights to see if we could put them up - one that matched the new siding. Now I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out how to install the weird mounting bracket - and I've watched videos and read posts, but I'm still not quite getting the answers I need from them.

The vinyl block has a bit of a thickness to it, so I think it would probably hold the mounting screws just fine. But I'm not really sure, because I don't do handywork.

Do I just screw in the mounting bracket to the block, or am I expected to make a larger hole and install it to something that should be under the block? I don't think I can take the block off, because it seems to be installed before the siding, like it's bolted down really well, then a hole in the siding made to fit over it.

So I'm not sure what to do. It's a swively bracket with two screws and then the part that connects to the lamp itself. I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to deal with the little siding block - if there is a bracket somewhere under it and I'm expected to modify the hole to get to it, or just screw it directly into the block and assume it will hold because it's designed to do that?

When I say I'm not handy, I mean it. I really don't know anything, but I'm trying. So I need specific, clear instructions as if you were talking to a total moron or a child.

Thanks for any help!

The rest doesn't look too hard. Breaker off. White to white. Black to black. Bronze to bronze (ground). Shove wired back through hole as best as possible. Mount fixture on bracket. Power back on.
