Need to make minimalistic earrings for sensitive ear piercings ASAP

I got my second holes done a year ago and my original holes since I was a baby. I have used gold earrings up until I was about 16 or something along that age. I either chose to wear earrings or not but now I decide to because I love decorating my ear piercings with art. I realized purchasing sterling silver jump rings and using then as simple small hoop earrings did the trick for me. I went to hobby Libby and purchased a couple within this year and made my own earrings. I got the .925 Sterling split ring 6MM kind and this worked great for a while especially just stretching them slightly for that double piercing spiral effect. I also got .925 Sterling 6MM open jump rings and I created smaller designs to the ends which accompanied the other ones and I wore both for a few months. I started losing the open jump ring kind and decided to go back to buy a thicker sterling silver open jump ring pack which I did. I wore them in both ears as the spiral split jump rings kept getting stuck on my long hair so I put them in my storage tube and put the four of the thicker kind on. It wasn’t until yesterday when I got back from work that I noticed my right second piercing feeling tender and irritated so I took it out and inspected it only to come face to face with discoloration on the metal itself. It isn’t complete sterling silver correct?

Anyway though I want to ask if using string/chord would help the holes stay and not close and the thickness of it helps. Any types of material I should stay away from? Are jump rings a general no go? Help would be greatly appreciated I want to keep both piercings on each ear lobe.
