Bathroom Reno 1 of 3, the half bath

I didn't get to into the materials on Imgur, so here is a list of tools and materials and vendors. Because I am doing 3 bathrooms at a time, I am buying a lot of the materials in much higher quantity than I need for this project.

Vanities and toilets: $1,429.11 (total), Lowe's

Floating white bathroom vanity with natural Carrara marble top, 60" double sink, 30" (this project) and 36"

Colby White water sense round standard height 2-piece toilet 12" rough in size. (1 for this project, 1 for the next bathroom)

Henshaw white water sense elongated chair height 2-piece toilet, 12-in rough in size.

Faucets: $45.59 each, ordered 4 total from Amazon Wowow wide spread bathroom faucet, 2 handle 3 hole solid brass in brushed nickel

Tile: $956.97 (total), Wayfair

Montauk 4" x 12" slate subway tile by MSI.

Durock 1/4" 3'x5' edge guard cement board $9.29 each (used 2 here), Home Depot.

Rock-on #9 1-1/4" cement board screws, $27.98/750, Home Depot.

Saint-Gobain ADFORS fibaTape, $7.38/roll, Home depot.

Versabond grey 50# fortified thin-set mortar, $13.70/bag (used about half a bag here) Home Depot.

Polyblend #115 Platinum 25# sanded grout, $13.27/bag (I think I used about half a bag here too, but I had a decent amount left in the bucket when I got done).

Miracle Sealants 511 128 oz impregnator penetrating sealer, $67.97 each, Home Depot (I think I used maybe 1/10th of the bottle on this project, maybe.)

A lot of the tools I previously had, but some I got just for this project. If I bought it for this project I'll have a price. Tools are in no particular order.

Framing hammer (pretty much used the claw side for this project)

Finishing hammer (the claw is at a slightly different angle on mine)

Brick chisel (I used this to break the adhesive at the skinny end of the counter top)

Grout float (used for grouting)

Margin trowels (used for scooping mortar out of the bucket)

Pointing trowel (I don't think I used it for this project)

Notched trowels (used for setting Durock and tile, and scooping grout out of the bucket)

Cordless circular saw, 5.5" (Ryobi 18V)

Cement board blade for circular saw

Angle grinder, Makita, needs a new cord; very un-safety.

4" diamond blade for angle grinder

Mixing paddle, QEP brand $12.97 from Home Depot. I had always hand mixed mortar and grout before but I was feeling lazy and it was totally worth it. I would recommend using a corded drill instead of a cordless though.

Cordless drill for mixing mortar and grout.

Impact driver for driving screws!

Utility knife. I think the only thing I used the utility knife for on this project was the cutout for the toilet flange in the Durock.

5 gallon buckets to mix mortar, grout and for water for wiping off excess grout and general cleaning.

7" wet tile saw, QEP used, $40 off of Facebook Marketplace. New at Home Depot is $210.34. I wasn't sure if I would really use the tile saw or not, but it was totally worth it. I found that I could use it to make cuts in the hallway just outside the bathroom and as long as I had a towel down on the floor under the saw, I didn't really make a mess either. I recommend using an old towel otherwise your wife will yell at you for using one of her "hair towels"; I still haven't figured out exactly what that is.

Rubi Tools cleaning block, $18.95 from Amazon for cleaning and "sharpening" diamond blades and it made a HUGE difference to just touch the block to the blade every 5-8 cuts.

General Tools 833 plastic contour gage, 10", $15.20 off Amazon. Honestly I only used it for 2 cuts around the door trim, and I could have just cut the bottom of the door trim and slid the tile underneath. This is one of those tools that is nice to have every now and then, but it takes a little getting used to.

Tape measure (4). Why so many? It was in my hand 5 seconds ago...

Carpenter pencils (lost track how many) same reason. For slate tile, it would have probably worked better to mark tiles with soap stone, but I kept forgetting to pick any up when I was at the hardware store(s).

Speed Square, Not really needed, but I am so used to using one on projects that I just use it out of habit. What I found myself doing for tile cuts most of the time was just leaving the fence off of the tile saw and free hand cutting straight lines, which goes much faster when that's what you're used to doing; I tend to do the same thing with a circular saw and sometimes the table saw fairly often.

Cordless brad nailer for attaching trim. I also used the brad nailer for tacking the floating cabinet cleat in place so I don't have to try and hold the thing while driving the first screw. A spider also got nailed to the sub-floor, but that isn't really required for a quality install.

Miter Saw was used for mitering the trim. For 4-1/2" trim a 10" miter saw is just a little bit small.

Coping saw was used to finish a few of the cuts when mitering and the blade didn't quite get deep enough to finish the cut. I use a coping saw because it is small, easy to use, and it's probably the saw I have the most hands on time with as my grandpa basically let my brother and I learn wood working starting with a coping saw, wood rasp, and a sanding block; that's how I got my start was making toy cars and trucks with scraps of 2x4.

Linemen pliers were used for pulling those stupid flat nail staple things out of the sub-floor.

Razor blade scraper was used to clean up the paint/caulk where the vanity and trim came off.

Drywall compound was used for this project for minor patching. I used the 3M wall repair fiber reinforced compound for this project because I had it laying around and I didn't really need to do much patching.

A 4" putty knife was used for slathering of drywall patch stuff.

A 120 grit sanding block was used for sanding drywall patch stuff.

An N-95 dust mask SHOULD have been used while sanding, but instead I was congested for a day and a half.

A 2" angle sash brush, 9" rollers, a paint tray and paint stir stick were used to paint with.
