I'm starting to finish off my basement, and doing a good deal of maintenance before framing it up to ensure no future issues.
I'm finishing up injecting a vertical wall crack that had a 1/8th crack in part of it, and sealing a couple 1/32" vertical hairline shrinkage cracks, and was getting ready to use a polyurethane sealer to seal the wall and floor joints.
I had a radon fan system installed in the basement before we moved in, but the company that did it never sealed off the joints. They did show me before and after radon levels, showing me the system is working, so I never thought anything of it.
I noticed there are some metal "fins / drip plate" (not sure what to call them) sticking out above the floor in a few spots around the perimeter, and thought it might be part of a perimeter drain system that drains into my sump pit.
Here's some pictures of what I'm looking at
Neglect the mouse poop. That was a battle that I have won, and am now cleaning up...
My sump pit itself does not have a pump installed it in, but rather just a hole in the bottom and a metal piece of...something...coming from the side of it.
I obviously don't want to seal the perimeter off if this is in fact a drain system of some kind, but I honestly have no experience with basement drain systems, and wasn't sure.
If this is indeed a drain system, can I continue with my plan to put foam board up against the wall, with the glue attaching it to the wall applied in vertical stripes? I'd imagine if I ever have anything weep for whatever reason (the basement is dry and has never had a water problem that I'm aware of), it will still run behind the foam board without issue into the drain?
