As you can see in the pictures, the trellis extends above the wall about six feet, and the trellis's lattice is attached to 4x4 posts. My conundrum involves a granite slab at the top of the brick wall that extends out from the brick about a 1/2 inch. If I attach the posts to the brick wall, am I safe to notch out the 4x4 posts to fit around that granite slab? Or should I just use longer 4x4s and sink them into the ground?
