Looking to change my current desk to an L-shape standing desk. I am ordering a third leg to convert it but am mostly concerned about surface. Wondering what to use for the top? Thinking 3/4in plywood would be suited for it. If so would Veneer core, MDF core or Veneer with MDF cross bands be best? I need to mount a Monitor stand to the back of it. Unlike most monitor stands, the monitor on this is placed fairly high due to a top/bottom configuration so I am a bit worried about the extra torque. I was originally thinking of doing a butcher block for the desk as that would come at a 1 1/2 in. I've tried to do some research and think that the MDF/Veneer combo is the best plywood option for strength but am mostly curious if it would be enough or if I should go with the butcher block instead. Ir alternately, do I get a plywood and then do a flooring install on top of it for the surface?
Any help would be appreciated. This is my first major adventure into something like this.
Edit: Realized that size should be stated. Looking to have both sides be 30in deep, the long side will be 80in and the short side will be 30-40in (still not sure how long I want the L)
