I have metal hooks, of the kind made to hold hanging baskets, with screws & anchors that have - per screw/anchor - a 35 lb. load capacity in 1/2" drywall. Each hook can be secured with two screws. I would like to set the hooks in drywall and hang cast-iron pans from them. The heaviest pan is about 7.5 pounds.
Unfortunately, there is no area with studs where I can set these, and I am concerned about whether this will hold up over a long-term period. Will the anchors and screws be able to handle the pans being removed and then returned to the hooks? A shelf that is secured by a similar screw & anchor arrangement can be expected to be stable long-term, even with items being set on the shelf, removed, or rearranged.
I am also wondering if there is an alternative solution; setting up a shelf and then hanging the pans from that. Still no studs available in the wall, though.
