Homemade Tonfa (Okinawan Martial Arts Weapon)

I found a branch on my property and I made a tonfa. I used a circular saw, an orbital sander, a drill, and some wood glue. I’m hoping the handle will hold.

If anyone knows what kind of tree I used, I would be grateful.
