I bought 4 LED recessed lights from COSTCO and installed them in my living room to replace the old recessed lighting (my house was built in 1991) The box said they were LED dimmer lights so I also ordered a Lutron dimmer light switch from Amazon to go with it. I ordered the kind that looks like a normal switch but had the dimmer slider on the side since the original switch was placed next to a fan switch as well and I wanted to use the same cover. I took apart the old switch which was wired with two wires and a ground and moved them over to the new switch and it didn't work. I realized that there was a third wire in the receptacle that wasnt attached previously. Upon further research, i also attached the third wire into the LED dimmer switch and after rotating the three wires through the three attachment points, I finally got the dimmer to work. Unfortunately my fan no longer would turn on.or so I thought. The next day I was about to watch a movie and turned the LED switch down and suddenly my fan came to life. Apparently it now only works if the LED switch is turned off. Anyone have any idea what's going on and how to fix it? I read something when I searched around the internet researching this issue about fans having a minimum load requirement? Not sure if that's related. Also, the ceiling fan itself doesn't have any lights attached to it. It's just a ceiling fan.
