I’ve run the gambit here on ideas and I am out of them. I make baseball bats for players locally and have been using store bought decals I print from my home printer but there are a couple problems with them. Even with multiple clear coats, their durability isn’t great and they smudge and sometimes come come loose from the wood. And two, they just don’t look great as they are clearly raised from the bat.
Laser or CNC engraving is out as I don’t have the ability to do that, and having them done somewhere else isn’t economical. I like the idea of stamping, and have clickable letter stamps but getting them lined up and come out correctly on a rounded surface has proven near impossible. Branding is out as I mostly work with rock maple and it neither works on that species, or offers the precision by hand I want.
Any other ideas or products I could look into? My father in law suggested waterslide decals like he uses on his guitars, but I have concerns about their durability and putting them on dark colored bats. Any advice would be appreciated.
