I'm planning on retiling my kitchen with a vinyl tile. The subfloor is flat and in great condition. The problem is that it's covered in residue from a previous tiling (this is the second time I will be retiling, first time didn't last because of the residue). My question is, what's the best way to prepare the subfloor and get it back down to clean wood? Can i just take a belt sander to it or should I run a planer over it? (subfloor is plywood).
