Just bought a home and it came with a backyard shed that's all wired up with lights, outlets, etc. It was connected to the main breaker box in the house via another box in the backyard that also serviced a hot tub. The problem is the previous owners took the hot tub with them and simply cut everything in doing so. So I'm left with a 240 line from the house (with a neutral and ground) going out to a box in the backyard, and what looks to be a 10/3 or 12/3 wire heading from that box to the barn. But nothing is connected. The question is, how do I safely and correctly wire the shed to the 240 line? I'm fairly handy and want to avoid spending a couple hundred on an electrician if possible. I just need to know the proper way to wire this up. I'm posting a couple photos of what I'm working with. You'll see the shed has a box as well where the 10/3 or 12/3 splits into two breakers (that then go on to power lights and outlets). Thanks! [link] [comments] |
