Looking for an automatic sound switch
So I have access to say Pandora and Apple TV / Netflix. I'm looking for something that will play Pandora when the Apple TV turns off, but the music would turn off when I turn on the Apple TV. Does anyone have any experience in the area or have any suggestions?

Need a little help wiring my shed
Just bought a home and it came with a backyard shed that's all wired up with lights, outlets, etc. It was connected to the main breaker box in the house via another box in the backyard that also serviced a hot tub. The problem is the previous owners took the hot tub with them and simply cut everything in doing so. So I'm left with a 240 line from the house (with a neutral and ground) going out to a box in the backyard, and what looks to be a 10/3 or 12/3 wire heading from that box to the barn. But nothing is connected. The question is, how do I safely and correctly wire the shed to the 240 line? I'm fairly handy and want to avoid spending a couple hundred on an electrician if possible. I just need to know the proper way to wire this up. I'm posting a couple photos of what I'm working with. You'll see the shed has a box as well where the 10/3 or 12/3 splits into two breakers (that then go on to power lights and outlets). Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Disconnected downspout
Recently bought a house. Mostly good but minor things like this are wrong.
When it rains, water mostly just shoots out the back of the gutter and pools on the ground. There's a previously repaired crack in the foundation so I imagine it's been an issue for a while.
How can I best connect my gutter to the pipe so it's not draining against my foundation? There's only like two inches of space between the gutter and pipe and neither move or extend enough to actually reach into it.

1st time going up to the attic
Owned the house for about 5 years, but not once have I been up the attic. Today I bought some Nest indoor cameras and my ideal location for the cameras would be top of ceiling. I need to run the wire up to attic to install them.
What should I expect up the attic? What type of gear should I have? Overall safety concerns please advise. Keep in mind I’m not very got at DYI projects but I’m trying to improve on my skills. Thank you all!

Looking for help with future carpet install
Looking to put carpet in my spare room, right now it is tile with grout. It’s about 3/4 lower than my living room. Was thinking of doing 3/4 thick plywood but don’t know if that will be sufficient over tile for carpet to go down over top.
Any ideas what I could do
Thanks in advance!

Messaged up a diy tank
I got an oversized t and I cut arm holes and around the color to make a tank. I cut way too much and now when I put my arms down material is sticking up where my side chest is. I also cut on the sides too deep. Any ideas how to fix this or did I mess up and there’s no turning back?

Best option for big, heavy wall-mounted shelves?
I'm going to be hanging 2 shelves (20" x 60") of 1" oak. I expect for them to have pretty heavy stuff piled on them - house plants and books.
What are the best options for mounting these things? Obv big old brackets lagged into studs would support the weight but, are there any aesthetically cleaner options? Can I do floating brackets? A French cleat with a cable/chain supporting the front? Any other suggestions?

Quick floating desk question
I’m rearranging my man cave area and would like to do a floating desk in a corner. I have a desk top/table top that’s about 5 foot wide and about 2 foot deep, approximately an inch thick made out of MDF. What I would like to do is screw some 2 x 4’s into the concrete on two walls. I’m guessing that the desktop weights maybe 30-40 pounds (probably an overestimate), and with keyboard/mouse/tower let’s say I have another 20 pounds (also an overestimate). Would the 2x4s and concrete anchors be sufficient? If not I was thinking a backup plan is to have a single leg on the otherwise unsupported corner if need be. Thanks!

need help - problem with flourescent light
hi! i have a 4 tube fluorescent light in my home. all four tubes failed at once, which has never happened and there were no obvious signs like flickering/buzzing before the failure. replaced all 4 tubes with properly "rated" new ones and no go. i then replaced the ballast and the light worked for about 2 hours then went out again. nothing has changed with any wiring recently. i've asked lowes/HD if ballasts failed like that and both seemed to think not. any ideas? pic of new ballast and bulb here.
