Old chimney

I have a chimney that's was mainly used for an oil burning furnace. Currently we moved to a tankless and the chimney is just closed up from the top and bottom.

I have some ideas on what to do, just not sure if it's a good idea. 1. Clean the vent and make it a laundry shoot. Keeping the top closed.

  1. Run a separate electrical wire from the basement (main box location) to the attic to add an attic vent.

  2. Use it as an air purifier for the entire house. No air recirculation. Thinking of just plugging a box fan have it exhausted the air out. The top of the chimney would be open.

Thanks in advance.
