Advice on an adobe fireplace?

Hey everyone,

I've been researching an adobe fireplace, but I have a bunch of questions from what I'm finding in my research. Two specifically:

1) I found some projects using a metal fireplace model and then building adobe and stucco around that. However I know that with adobe and strawbale construction metal should never be inside the walls due to interstitial condensation concerns. Wouldnt that also be the case with a metal fireplace?

2) With a brick fireplace people use special bricks and special fire resistant mortar. But with adobe fireplaces people seem to just use local mud and figure it's good enough. Why the difference? Is there anything I should be concerned about with the temperature stability of adobe? Even reading wikipedia doesn't help: it says firebricks are only for high temperature furnaces, incinerators, and forges, but for regular fireplaces it says standard bricks are fine. So what's the purpose of these special fireplace bricks and special mortar, and will it be a problem for my adobe and stucco? For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9lQV-K-Okc
