Is there a way to improve the surface of this 35 y/o kitchen table without loosing the character?

So I have this ?pine? Ikea table that was my family's table growing up. We were not nice to it and it now has what I consider a beautiful patina. I'd like to do something to it to spruce it up but I want to keep the surface looking as it does. I do not want it to look brand new. Just be a little smoother and look a bit more alive.

Someone suggested I sand it but if I did that would I run off the surface?

I did oil it a year or two ago with a home made spoon oil but it didn't make too much difference.

Here is a picture of the same/similar table (not mine).

Hope you enjoy the weekend!
