Blackout curtain mods

I bought these curtains from ikea, it does a great job blocking out light other than the fact that there a gap between the rail and curtain when it's hung. It's a pleat prong type set up. I'm wondering what I can do to block the light from coming from the top because when I'm sleeping under it, I get all the reflected light from the top. I think taping some black paper on that ledge would help the light reflecting down at me - but I wonder if there's a more elegant way...
