We Built It! Here's How it Turned Out
from Recent Project Plans https://ift.tt/VKEixZL
The bench is perfect for entryway and shoe storage. The narrower depth will fit in tighter halls, and shoes won't get lost in too deep bins.

Add extra storage under the TV!

Need extra toy storage, and a play space on top? This is a great project of that!

This plan was built and tested by us, here's how we built it -
Start by screwing the 16.5" pieces together like this, build 2.
Next you will measure, mark and attach the back leg to each support.

For the seat I attached the front board first making sure everything is square and flush and then I added the back seat board and finally the middle.

Once the seat boards were attached I flipped the project on it's back to screw in the back boards, I started with the top board first and made sure it was level and flush. Then I added the other board and kept the spacing consistent all the way across. Pre starting your screws and using clamps will make this step go much more smoothly.

I would recommend sanding and finishing your boards prior to assembly. Then you can come back and touch up or fill any spots that need it.

This plan was built and tested by us, here's how we built it -

First, you take the two arm rests, and attach legs to them with the self tapping screws. You build two identical leg sets per bench.

Then on the back side, you add these leg supports pieces. For all these joints we used 2-3/4" self tapping star bit screws.

Here's the leg sets done.

Now the back rest supports are added to the inside of the leg supports. There will be more attachment points in later steps, for now, just getting the back support placed.
You can see the center bottom support that goes between the two legs attached too.

Then I added the 2x6 back boards

Followed up by the seat boards.

This is a great firepit bench that you can leave out - it's heavy enough to not blow away, It's made like a deck so will stand up to some elements, and its comfy and roomy enough to enjoy a fire. I do like that more upright seating (as opposed to using Adirondack chairs) as we are always leaning into a fire (instead of away from it).

A front apron (directly under the seat boards, running across the front) can be added for more strength to the seat boards, and improved overall look.
To do this, cut the upper seat support board square on one end, 2" shorter than the cut list calls for. Add the seat support board when you add the bottom stretcher.
