Modern Wood Side Table

Why I Built this Project

I wanted a place for a nice plant in our living room as well as a good spot to store our "coffee table books".   I love simple projects and using common boards!

• Easy to build, it only took me one hour start to finish
• Solid wood construction
• Built using basic tools and materials 
• Added a modern design element to our room
• Versatile for living room, bedroom or bathroom
• Functional for setting cups or adding a plant
• Storage, great place to store a few books

 

How I Built this Project

Make sure you pick out nice straight boards.

Make cuts according to the cut list.

Attach first 2 long pieces with glue and nails. Make sure you're working on a flat level surface.

Measure and mark shelf placement and attach with glue and nails. I marked the inside and outside of the two uprights to make sure I didn't miss nailing as well as clamped in place once positioned correctly.

Attach front leg, I attached the top first and then checked for level on the lower shelf. Use glue and nails.

Fill nail holes, sand and finish with paint or stain!

Double Large Console - Dog Crate Furniture

Why I Built this Project

My niece has a small apartment with two large dogs.  She wanted a more attractive solution than a plastic kennel, and also wanted to be able to use the top surface as a tabletop and to support a large tv.

They also wanted an open bottom so plastic pet trays could be easily slid under (and out) if needed for cleaning.

Why We Love this Double Dog Crate Furniture 

• Much more attractive than a metal or plastic kennel
• Top is useable as a tabletop surface
• Easy to clean and use
• Double design for two dogs saves space and while keeping dogs separated
• Easy to customize color and size to match desgin
• Surprisingly lightweight for how large the project is
• Very sturdy

Two Month Calendar Shelf with Key Hooks and Mail Organization

Why I Built this Project

CALENDAR VISIBLE TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS - With 3 kids in sports and other extracurricular activities, I needed a place where we could all be on the same page. I use my phone calendar, but this is a great way for other family members to add their schedule so everybody can see it while planning out the month ahead.  It's always visible to everyone in the home, so we are literally on the same page!

CHANGING MONTHS - When months change, it's easy to just rotate the calendars upward, and set up the next month's calendar, since it's a dry erase board.

KEY ORGANIZATION -The added hooks are perfect for hanging keys for the multiple drivers in our household, all in one place.

MAIL ORGANIZATION - We always have mail laying on the counter, so this sorter has cleaned up the cluttered counter too!

• Custom finish to match style and decor - I painted mine white, but this project can be stained easily
